We wanted to build for mobile an experience that would work as an equivalent as well as an aid to the web product. We targeted tablets first because visits from tablets eclipsed those on phones. I didn't want to create a 1:1 match of the website and put it on a tablet. Instead, I did a complete audit of our exisiting features and functionality and determined what would be the best and necessary for tablets. What I wanted most was a very visual experience that was easy for users to browse and get immersed in. The goal was to allow users to browse for destinations and experiences and save them to their own boards. If the user was at home, they could lean back and browse our recommendations and get inspired. If the user happended to already be traveling, the app could locate where they were based on the device's geolocation and serve up the appropriate experiences based on their interests.
